I have skype 2.8 beta installed. But my problem started from the previous version. I seem to be able to use skype fine for audio and video calls, but for text chats it quits unexpectedly. Step 1 If you are using a trial version of a third-party software like Call Recorder (or whichever software) with Skype for miscellaneous purposes and its trial period is expired, you may experience Skype quit unexpectedly error. 
To fix it, you should first quit Skype (make sure that you quit Skype properly and do not just close the window) and then download the latest version of the expired software again. Once the software is downloaded, launch it and select the “ Uninstall” option during installation. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the uninstallation. Delete the software from the Trash folder also to completely get rid of it. The problem should be resolved afterwards.
